Fox News reported NATO allies in Europe are increasingly restricting military cooperation as the Trump administration expands its activity in Iran. France, Spain, and Italy limited U.S. access to airspace or bases, complicating logistics since European hubs are “essential” for Middle East operations.
Italy clarified its position, saying, “With reference to media reports regarding the use of military bases, the government reiterates that Italy acts in full compliance with existing international agreements and with the policy guidelines set out by the government to parliament.”
Spain explicitly barred support for Iran-related missions, while France denied overflight for supply planes.
President Trump sharply criticized allies, writing, “France has been VERY UNHELPFUL… The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!” He also urged European nations to take control of oil routes, saying they should “build up some delayed courage… and just TAKE IT,” adding, “You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”
Fox News reported this morning that President Trump will address the country at 9 p.m. ET tonight to provide an update on Iran.
