Trump Leaves G7 for Situation Room
President Donald Trump arrived in Calgary, Alberta, for the G7 summit. The Epoch Times added that it his first meeting with other international leaders since his second term began. The summit, held in the Canadian Rockies from June 15–17, will no doubt center on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. “Many calls and meetings now taking place,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal.” Despite that optimism, he stated, “Sometimes, they have to fight it out,” and reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel’s defense.
Fox News reported:
Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada, made the comment in response to a reporter asking if he has seen or heard “any signals or seen any messages from intermediaries that Iran wishes to de-escalate the conflict.”
“They'd like to talk, but they should have done that before,” Trump said. “But I'd say Iran is not winning this war. And they should talk and they should talk immediately before it's too late.”
"We've always supported Israel. We have, for a long period of time, strongly. And Israel is doing very well right now," Trump also said.
The Financial Times reported on Trump’s early exit:
US President Donald Trump is abruptly leaving the G7 summit in Canada due to the conflict in the Middle East, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said on Monday night.
“President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer,” she said.
“Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,” Leavitt wrote.
CNN reported:
President Donald Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he’s seeking “a real end” to the conflict with Israel and Iran, arguing it’s better than a ceasefire while also suggesting that giving up entirely on negotiating is a possibility.
Asked what is better than a ceasefire, as he alluded to in a Truth Social post, Trump said “an end, a real end, not a ceasefire. An end. Or giving entirely. That’s OK, too.”
Trump said he expects the next 48 hours will reveal more about whether Israel plans to slow down or accelerate its attacks on Iran.
