Think American: Apple Invests $500 Billion in America
Apple announced a $500 billion U.S. investment over five years, creating 20,000 jobs and building AI servers, partly in response to pressure from President Trump’s tariff policies. The National Pulse reported that plans include a server factory in Houston, a manufacturing academy in Detroit, and expansions at data centers across several states. This builds on previous investments of $430 billion in 2021 and $350 billion in 2018.
CNBC reported:
The new factory, which is slated to begin operations in 2026, will form part of a major investment plan Apple is committing to over the next four years. In addition to the new Texas facility, Apple said it also plans to hire around 20,000 new employees across the U.S.
Most of the new hires will be focused on research and development, or R&D, silicon engineering, software development, and AI and machine learning, Apple said.
“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement Monday.
Despite the expansion, core products like the iPhone will still be made abroad. Trump credited his policies for Apple’s decision, while CEO Tim Cook emphasized confidence in American innovation and commitment to future technological advancements.
