The Rogan Factor
Yesterday comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan said Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign proposed conditions for a potential appearance on his show, including a one-hour limit and requiring him to travel to her location. Rogan expressed a preference for hosting Harris in his Austin studio for a longer, more personal conversation. Basically, the same he did for former President Trump, among many, many, other guests.
As expected, her campaign has not confirmed the appearance, though The Hill noted her spokesman Ian Sams previously stated she would not appear on Rogan’s show.
Rogan’s preference for doing the interview in-studio and for three hours has brought out some hilarious reactions from Democrats. Some have said he should respect the office. Can someone remind me of what Trump was up to from 2016-2020? Self-identified journalist Lisa Guerrero said, “I think Joe Rogan is afraid to interview Kamala Harris because that would require a great deal of research and preparation that he is not equipped to do.”
Yeah, that’s it. I say give Kamala what she wants — go to her and give her just an hour. But Rogan’s team gets 60 Minutes editing privileges and can edit however they want 😆
It was also announced yesterday that Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance will be on Rogan’s podcast today. Whether Rogan or elsewhere, it’s interesting to see so much attention on podcasts while legacy media are left behind to just report on it.
The Daily Wire noted:
Both Trump and Vance have focused much of their attention on sitting down for podcast interviews over the past month of the campaign. Trump has joined “The Ben Shapiro Show,” the “Lex Fridman Podcast,” the “Full Send Podcast” with the Nelk Boys, and Barstool Sports’ “Bussin with the Boys,” among others. Vance, meanwhile, has recently been on the podcasts of comedians Theo Von and Tim Dillon.
…Harris has also hit the podcast circuit in recent weeks, sitting down with Alex Cooper on “Call Her Daddy,” along with doing interviews with Howard Stern, former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, and Charlamagne Tha God on “The Breakfast Club.”
