Some Advice for the Non-Trump Candidates Tonight
Ahead of the first Republican primary debate on Fox News, they reported on the lineup for tonight:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will stand center stage at Wednesday night's first GOP presidential nomination debate, according to a lineup released Tuesday by the Republican National Committee.
Standing alongside DeSantis and Ramaswamy at the debate – a Fox News-hosted showdown in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – will be former Vice President Mike Pence and former ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina will stand in the number five and six positions.
Generation X and a Millennial almost dominate the debate stage!
Eddie Scarry at The Federalist writes that tonight’s non-Trump candidates should answer Trump-related questions strategically. He suggests rejecting the legitimacy of left's pursuit of Trump, avoiding accepting the premise of the 2020 election being stolen, and focusing on party unity instead of criticizing Trump's performance. He also has advice on the “disqualifying” answers.
He concludes, “Regardless of whether the non-Trump candidates answer these questions with perfect precision, almost all of them will have to drop out between now and next summer.”
Bill Maher also has some advice for Ramaswamy — stop the rapping on the campaign trail.
