Rasumussen Predicts Trump Landslide
I’m not getting my hopes up for a landslide, I’m just passing on the information!
Breitbart reported that Rasmussen’s head pollster, Mark Mitchell, predicts a decisive victory for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, likening it to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 landslide win over Jimmy Carter. Mitchell anticipates that Trump will secure both the national popular vote and a sweep across key battleground states, including possible flips in Virginia, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and New Mexico.
He attributes Trump’s potential success to widespread dissatisfaction with the Biden administration and suggests a “major political realignment” is underway, making party affiliation less relevant than support for Trump or Harris. It certainly echos endorsements on both sides — RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard for Trump and the Cheneys for Harris. Call it the the “status quo or no” election.
He claims that some polls are skewed toward Harris, but Rasmussen’s data consistently shows a Trump lead. Early voting and strong Republican turnout could further boost Trump’s chances, potentially resulting in early declarations of victory.
From Breitbart:
Mitchell emphasized that enthusiasm among Trump supporters remains high, although traditional polls may not fully capture it. He pointed out that online respondents can sometimes overestimate their likelihood to vote, which could distort enthusiasm levels.
“Trump’s people are going to turn out,” he stated confidently. He downplayed the possibility of Harris outperforming polls across battlegrounds, saying, “I really don’t see any logical or data-based counter to say, ‘Well, Kamala Harris is going to, across the board, outperform the polls nationally.’”
Sean Trende at Real Clear Politics noted, “The bottom line is what it's been for a while: The bulk of the publicly available data is consistent with a close election. That doesn't mean it *will* be close, and one of the frustrating things about this job is partisans who are irresponsible with data are right half the time.”

What I’m Reading This Week
Remember the early BRIGHT feature Mondays with Melania? It was one of my favorites to write. I’m clearly still staying hopeful despite the above because this week I’m reading her memoir, Melania. From the description:
In her memoir, Melania reflects on her Slovenian childhood, the pivotal moments that led her to the world of high fashion in Europe and New York, and the serendipitous meeting with Donald Trump, a chance encounter that forever changed the course of her life. Melania opens up about their courtship, life in the spotlight, and experiencing the joy of motherhood. She shares behind-the-scenes stories from her time in the White House, shedding light on her advocacy work and the causes close to her heart.
