Presidential Debate Drama: Where and When?
Former President Donald Trump announced he will debate Kamala Harris in early September on Fox News, replacing a previously agreed ABC News debate with Joe Biden. The Harris campaign, however, hasn’t confirmed. Just the News reported that Trump accused Democrats of unconstitutionally replacing Biden as their candidate and expressed readiness to face Harris. The debate, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, will be held in Pennsylvania with a live audience on September 4. Trump shared the announcement on Truth Social, criticizing Biden’s treatment by his party and emphasizing the debate's adherence to similar rules as the previously planned debate with Biden.
Additionally, Fox News reported:
The former president also noted that an ABC News debate previously scheduled against President Biden before he suspended his re-election campaign had been canceled, citing his lawsuit against that network and one of its hosts, George Stephanopoulos.
"I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. "The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest."
The Harris campaign and its social media gang are spreading the narrative that Trump is running from the ABC News debate. Harris campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said, “Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out.”
Trump fans are responding that if the Harris campaign wants to go by the old schedule, she should debate Senator JD Vance instead.
