Not a Humble Bragg
Everyone is watching Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and I’m sure he and fellow Democrats couldn’t be happier. As the country waits in a Friends-style, will he or won’t he, the House Judiciary Committee is calling for Bragg to testify to Congress about the “legally pathetic” case against Donald Trump. Fox News reported:
Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent a letter, exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital, to Bragg Monday morning demanding his testimony. The letter was also signed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and House Committee on Administration Chairman Brian Steil, R-Wis.
Jordan warned Bragg that if news reports of a possible Trump indictment are accurate, Bragg’s actions "will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the court of the 2024 presidential election."
"In light of the serious consequences of your actions, we expect that you will testify about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision," Jordan wrote.
Following the arrest rumors, Bragg’s personal Twitter account started posting positive news about New York City’s murder rate being down. A tweet on March 19 boasted, “In Alvin's first year, shootings in Manhattan were down 20%, and homicides down 16% - both larger reductions than citywide rate. And in the first 2 months of 2023, virtually every major crime category is lower in Manhattan now than it was last year (NYPD Statistics as of 3/5/23).”
He also shared an MSNBC clip on this “historic moment” in which Lawrence O’Donnell calls Bragg “The Anointed One.”
Historic, sure. For the right reasons? We’ll see.
