New Data on Illegal Border Crossings
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released data showing a significant drop in illegal border crossings in February, reflecting the impact of President Trump’s immigration policies. Townhall reported that Trump announced on Truth Social that just 8,326 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border, a stark contrast to the 300,000 monthly crossings under President Biden. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem highlighted that CBP encountered only 200 illegal aliens in a single day—the lowest in 15 years.
Via Townhall:
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have sent a clear message to illegal aliens: do not come to our country. You will not be allowed in. And if you get in, we will hunt you down and deport you,” a statement from a senior DHS spokesperson said. “That message has been received. This weekend, we saw the single lowest apprehensions at the southern border in more than 15 years. This is yet another sign that President Trump’s commonsense immigration and border security policies are working.”
Officials credit Trump’s policies for the decline, asserting that the message has been received by would-be migrants. The data underscores a sharp policy shift from the previous administration, reinforcing Trump’s commitment to strict border enforcement.
