The New York Post reported First Lady Melania Trump criticized late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after he mocked her as “an expectant widow” just days before the recent shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Calling his remarks dangerous, she said, “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,” adding, “his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.” She also labeled him “a coward” who “hides behind ABC” and urged the network to act, asking, “How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior?”
President Trump also had some words for Kimmel on Truth Social:
Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking. He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be. He then stated, ‘Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.’ A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.
As Ben Domenech observed on The Daily Wire, “The legacy media has declared who they want dead. They continue to platform the Left’s voices who urge his death. They rely on the violent Left’s bark being worse than their bite — even as those who bay for blood continually show their eagerness for the exact outcome that motivates the president’s would-be murderers.”
Fox News reported the alleged shooter was charged with “three counts, including attempt to assassinate the president of the United States, transporting firearm across state lines and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.” U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro, said there will be additional charges because he “made clear what his intent was, and that intent was to bring down as many of the high-ranking cabinet officials as he could,” adding, “This is the kind of situation that we cannot tolerate.”
