Knucklehead Appears on The View
In an interview on The View, Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz reiterated his stance on gun ownership, emphasizing that lawful gun owners have nothing to fear under the Harris/Walz platform. However, Cam Edwards at Bearing Arms pointed out that Walz argued that individuals convicted of felonies, including Donald Trump due to his 34-count conviction, should be disqualified from owning firearms. Walz’s position aligns with the Biden administration’s DOJ, which supports lifetime bans on gun ownership for felons. Many 2nd Amendment supporters argue that such bans, especially for non-violent crimes, are overly harsh.
Edwards highlights this case:
That argument has its share of critics, however, including multiple judges on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, which seems poised to once again rule in favor of a Pennsylvania man seeking to get his 2A rights restored almost 30 years after he pled guilty and received probation for falsifying his income on a food stamp application.
The Third Circuit previously ruled in favor of Bryan Range, but the Supreme Court remanded the case back to the appellate court after it issued the Rahimi decision. The appellate court held oral arguments in the Range case for a second time earlier this month, and the panel seemed skeptical of DOJ attorney Kevin Soter's position that only "serious crimes" result in a lifetime loss of the right to keep and bear arms.
Of course, Walz’s own past DUI incident was not discussed, raising questions about his consistency on this issue.
