Is Biden Campaign Looking for a Way Out of Debates Already?
Nick Arama at RedState writes that Joe Biden has set various conditions for the debates with Donald Trump, such as no live audience and mic cut-offs. Cindy Adams from the New York Post suggests Biden might use Trump’s potential conviction in the hush money trial as an excuse to avoid debating a “felon.” She wrote that both are having second thoughts:
Joe’s counting on cancellation if Trump’s found guilty. Reading from the prompter he’ll say he can’t debate a felon. Slick shtick to reverse his sick poll numbers.
And if acquittal Joe and Jill scramble up the hill to fetch only a pail of water — not election.
But attention please: Anyone note Obama’s at the White House more often since Joe’s numbers declined?
And anyone think Michelle’s last name is enough to sit her behind in the Oval Office?!
Per CNNers, both candidates want out of it. Both sides have second thoughts about agreed to rules.
Trump who interrupts and talks over his opponents needs a live studio audience and open mikes.
The debate prohibits a studio audience plus audio turned off when each candidate’s answer time expires.
Both camps are having second (third and fourth) thoughts about these agreed to rules.
I can’t help but love her old-school gossip column tone. I’m disappointed there was no mention of who is canoodling at the campaign HQs.
In conclusion, Biden needs the debate to boost his campaign, but his performance concerns, including reliance on teleprompters, raise doubts about his debate readiness. Trump will be at a disadvantage because he thrives on an audience (whether boos or jeers) and the moderator is likely to be from an unfriendly network. Doesn’t that make it fair when both people are unhappy?
