Garland Doesn’t Recollect Whether He Talked to FBI About Hunter
Yesterday Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before the House Judiciary Committee about allegations of political influence on the federal investigation into Hunter Biden. Fox News reported that the committee, led by Chairman Jim Jordan, is examining the politicization of the Justice Department under Garland's leadership. IRS whistleblowers testified that political factors affected decisions in the Hunter Biden probe, leading to the appointment of special counsel David Weiss. The hearing coincides with a formal impeachment inquiry against President Biden and ongoing investigations into alleged Justice Department collusion with Big Tech companies and misuse of federal resources at school board meetings.
Axios reported that Garland said, “I am not the president's lawyer. I will add I am not Congress' prosecutor. The Justice Department works for the American people.”
The Daily Wire reported on this exchange:
Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) pressed Garland on that question during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.
“Have you had personal contact with anyone at FBI headquarters about the Hunter Biden investigation?” Johnson asked.
“I don’t recollect the answer to that question but the FBI works for the Justice Department — ,” Garland said in reply.
“I’m sorry,” Johnson interjected. “You don’t recollect whether you talked to anyone at FBI headquarters about an investigation into the president’s son?”
Garland responded, “I don’t believe that I did.”
Seems like something memorable. Who knows, maybe Garland had a lot going on that day.
