Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, denied accusations of attempting to suppress the theory that COVID-19 originated from a lab leak during his testimony before the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. Fox News reported that Fauci recounted discussions with international scientists who initially considered lab manipulation but later leaned towards a natural spillover.
He dismissed claims of influencing scientific opinions through bribes and reiterated his openness to both origin theories. The hearing, led by Republicans, probed the pandemic response and U.S.-funded research in China, while Democrats found no evidence of wrongdoing by Fauci.
