Bidenomics Update: U.S. Inflation At Its Worst Since June 2022
Breitbart News reported that in August, U.S. inflation surged with the consumer price index rising 0.6%, three times the rate in July, and reaching a 3.7% increase from a year ago. This sharp rise in inflation is driven by higher gasoline prices, raising uncertainty about whether the Federal Reserve can control inflation and increases the likelihood of further interest rate hikes this year.
Breitbart News added, “Economists had been expecting the increase in inflation due to higher energy prices. The consensus forecast was for a 0.6 percent increase compared with July and a 3.6 percent increase in year-over-year inflation. The expectation for core inflation was for a 0.2 percent monthly increase. The year-over-year increase for core was in-line expectations for a 4.3 percent increase.”
After Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed inflation reporting is “propaganda,” her constituents are speaking out.
From The Daily Wire:
Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents in the 14th district expressed their anger to The New York Post that Ocasio-Cortez had blithely dismissed talk of inflation as “propaganda.”
A 41-year-old certified nursing assistant and single mother of three told the Post, “Is AOC crazy? Has she been to a grocery store recently? $1,000 ain’t nothing no more. $100 ain’t nothing no more. Maybe she should spend some time in the projects and really help people.”
“I’m working two jobs just to survive,” she continued. “I kill myself just to feed my family. It’s much worse now than it was before the pandemic.”
A Hispanic retired schoolteacher from the Bronx snapped that AOC “does not represent true Hispanic beliefs or values,. Puerto Ricans have traditional family values which she does not represent. And for her to act as if inflation being something other than the government’s fault? Well since I don’t have someone to pay for my $30,000 dress for a gala like she did, it’s much easier for me to see the truth.”
“AOC should not be in Congress,” she concluded. “She’s not helping us, she’s hurting us with her rhetoric and her policies.”
