The Daily Caller reported that despite President Biden’s student loan forgiveness initiative, many borrowers remain financially stressed as their overall debt continues to grow. A study by Constantine Yannelis from the University of Chicago found that borrowers have accumulated new debts, such as auto loans and credit card debt, after their student loans were forgiven. These new financial burdens have resulted in little to no improvement in borrowers’ credit scores. While the debt relief may have provided some temporary relief, many are redirecting their savings to other financial obligations, new and old.
