A Ceasefire Agreement?

Fox News reported Iran launched a missile attack on the U.S.-operated Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday in retaliation for American airstrikes on its nuclear sites. The Pentagon confirmed multiple short- and medium-range missiles were fired but reported no U.S. casualties. Qatar intercepted the missiles and condemned the attack as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty. Iran claimed responsibility through its Revolutionary Guard, warning that the “era of hit and run is over.” Iran reportedly gave Qatar advance notice, suggesting a symbolic strike. U.S. embassies issued alerts, and regional airspaces were closed.

The AP reported:

The Arab League chief has expressed his “complete solidarity” with Qatar following Iran’s missile attack, calling it “unacceptable.”

Ahmed Abou-Gheit reiterated his warning about the risks the military escalation poses to the region.

“We remain hopeful that the current confrontation will be contained as soon as possible,” he wrote on X.

The Daily Wire highlighted some funny commentary from Vice President JD Vance as he made the media rounds:

“They were trying to draw this process out as long as possible so that they could rebuild their nuclear weapons program without the threat of American action,” Vance explained. “We didn’t blow up the diplomacy. The diplomacy never was given a real chance by the Iranians.”

“The Iranians are clearly not very good at war. Perhaps they should follow President Trump’s lead and give peace a chance,” he concluded.

Brutal… and effective. Yesterday, President Trump announced that Iran and Israel have come to a ceasefire agreement. From Fox News:

“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!" he wrote on his Truth Social Platform.

“Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World,” Trump added.

Trump praised both countries for their “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” to end what he called “THE 12 DAY WAR.”

“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” he said.

Politico Playbook reported this morning:

Netanyahu said this morning he accepted the ceasefire, as Israel’s war aims had been met. Iranian state television also confirmed it was in effect — although not before the regime launched a final barrage of missiles at Israel. Most were intercepted, but one hit home at astonishing speed , smashing into an apartment block and killing four Israelis. It remains to be seen if the ceasefire holds throughout the day.

However, as President Trump left for NATO meeting this morning, the Israeli military said Iran had already broken the agreement.
